Seventy Five years on from the summer of 1940, when the Battle of Britain waged throughout British skies, we decided that for Goodwood Revival 2015 we would call upon the Bésame action hero of the year, Agent Carter, to give a new twist and a fitting tribute to the real female action heroes that played their part in the defence of freedom and to whom we now owe so much.
British female Royal Air Force crew comprised of the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) and supported by the Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA). Although these brave women did not engage in active combat, they were vital to the pilots who did, providing much needed support services and were stationed at the military bases that were prime targets.
Vintage Hair Lounge launched its own first vintage hair and makeup salon at Goodwood Revival in 2012 with a wartime / 1940s theme, and returned to the same territory for its Goodwood Revival salon in 2015 with a leading campaign featuring Bésame Cosmetics Europe model, Raven Brookes in Agent Carter inspired styling. The campaign lasted from spring until September and encompassed a festival styled outing in May at the Vintage Nostalgia Show in Wiltshire. As has now become almost legendary, Hayley Atwell who plays Agent Peggy Carter in the Marvel spin-off series, soon to be showing in a second season, Agent Carter’s choice of lipstick is Red Velvet (1946), and throughout the summer Raven has been wearing Red Velvet lipstick in style!
Award winning makeup and hair artist Sharon Holloway, took the opportunity to don her own air crew inspired outfit to undertake Raven’s Agent Carter makeover at the Vintage Hair Lounge salon, a decision that quickly resonated as Raven’s somewhat eccentric squadron leader!
And so our very own action hero closes a chapter of one our most exciting and inspiring collaborations with Vintage Hair Lounge to date. We look forward to seeing the real Agent Carter fighting missions and inspiring women and girls the world over in the new season coming soon.
